Madison City Schools is in the process of going through District Accreditation this year.  The first item for completion in this process was the Stakeholder Feedback Surveys.  Thank you so much for completing the surveys for us in August.  The results gave us valuable information about our school and school system. We are now in the process of organizing a parent group to assist us in the completion of our school self assessment.

Please make plans to attend the meeting on  Oct. 27 at 5:30 PM in the Library at West Madison.  We will lead a discussion of our self assessment completed by teacher groups based on 5 standards; Purpose and Direction, Governance and Leadership, Teaching and Assessing for Learning, Resources and Support Systems and Using Results for Continuous Improvement.  If you are interested in helping us with this process, please make plans to attend meetings.

We will also have a Principal Breakfast on Oct. 28 at 9:00 in the Library. We will discuss our goals for the year, school wide test results and answer any questions you may have.  Please make plans to attend these events.  It takes all of us to make West Madison the best in the district. :)

Fourth - Sixth Grade worked on Programming

Fourth Grade Students Service Project

Our fourth grade students received pictures from the children in Haiti.  How exciting!

When Mr. Hames came to visit the fourth grade students, he showed them the soccer balls and toys that they played with.  It is amazing how blessed we are in the USA.  Thank you Mrs. Lawrence and all the fourth grade teachers and students for helping to make these students' a little brighter.

West Madison Juggling Team

The West Madison Juggling Team will be participating in the Second Annual March on Madison, sponsored by the Bob Jones High School Band.  Please go out to see them on Tuesday at the Madison City School stadium at 6:30.    The Discovery Band will also be performing.  All Madison City students will get in free, if they wear their BJHS school shirt or their WM school T-shirt.

West Madison Fifth  Grade Honor Choir

We had several students perform last Friday at Samford University.  They performed as apart of the Alabama Music Educators Statewide Choir Festival.  They performed with 200 students from all over the state of Alabama with guest conductor, Ken Berg.  Ms. Newsome and the parents who attended said the performance was beautiful.  It was definitely an unforgettable experience for our students.

What's Happening at West Madison

What's Happening at West Madison

Sci-Quest

THANK YOU PARENTS!

Thank you for sending in the money for Sci-Quest. The students are truly enjoying the activities.  We have had donations from several parents as well to help off-set the costs. Thank you for helping to make this program a success.  You all are wonderful.

Sci-Quest teachers came to visit to complete our first round of activities.  The first graders were so excited to learn about bouncy balls.  They also made a bouncy ball to take home.

While sixth grade learned about the inside of a computer.  One group even began learning about computer programming and the beginning of computer animation and video game production.

5th Grade Projects

Our 5th graders have worked very hard on social studies projects.  They presented them to the class. The projects turned out great and the groups learned so much about the regions they studied.

Congratulations to our Winner

The 4th graders displayed their Invention Convention Projects.  They were awesome.  We had judges (2 local engineers and a science teacher) come in  to choose the best projects.  The judges stated that it was very difficult to choose the winners because all the projects were so wonderful.  I wholeheartedly  agree.  This was a wonderful activity for all our little engineer students.  I would like to congratulate the winners of Invention Convention this year.  They will be featured in our Oct. 13 morning assembly.
