This week was a busy but exciting week.

This week began with a big surprise!  The faculty, staff and students had a wonderful presentation for Mrs Miller and I.  The character word for this month was Excellence.  Mrs.  Allen, Ms. Newsome, Ms. Brindley, Mrs. Tibbs, all the students and teachers participated in the  presentation below.  It was great!

Thank you everyone!

As you can see we both cried.  It was so beautiful.  It was the best present ever, one from the heart.  Children all week were giving us hugs and telling us "Dr. Jah, Mrs. Miller you are excellence."  It was so cute.

The words to the song are below.  They were written by Ms. Newsome.

I Gotta Feeling
I gotta feeling, That today's going to be a good day
Celebrating you 2 today.
Yeah, today's gonna be a good, good, day.

All of your students,
Have a something very special to say
We want to say thank you today
You both are awesome in every way

I gotta feeling, That today's going to be a good day
Celebrating you 2 today.
Yeah, today's gonna be a good, good, day.

To Dr. Jah, Our Principal
We honor you,
We lift you up

And to Mrs. Miller,
Like oh my gosh
You're so fantastic
You're on the ball.

All year you both work so hard with your meetings
And papers
How do you do it all?
We're so thankful
to have you,
the best in the land bask in this glory we give you a hand

You have bus duty and carline too
even in the lunchroom, you work there--to

IEP meetings,
and 504's PST meetings and then you check out our scores
You do it, you do it, you do it
Work through it, review it, re-glue it
you do it, redo it, do
You do it, you do it, you do it

I gotta feeling, That today's going to be a good day
Celebrating you 2 today.
Yeah, today's gonna be a good, good, day.

All of your students,
Have a something very special to say
We want to say thank you today
You both are awesome in every way

We were also treated in Monday Morning Assembly to our 6th grade performing a rhythmic drum presentation on buckets.  They were lead by our music teacher, Ms. Newsome.

Mrs. Tibbs and students learned about germs, diseases and microorganisms.

Debra Terrell, from NASA, came in to talk with students about microorganisms, germs, diseases, and some of the processes NASA uses to filtrate water for the Space Station. Then the girls let several swabs “grow” in petri dishes and observed how microscopic germs really do grow into nasty samples!

The students presented what they learned to a 3rd grade class
They taught the class their "hand washing" song.  Adapted from the song, "Let it go!" from the movie Frozen.

Washing Your Hands
Washing your hands is an important task everyone must do several times a day.  Each day millions of tiny germs can get on your hands, Increasing your chance of getting sick.   Always remember to wash your hands before and after eating, after touching animals and using the restroom.   (Don't just run your hands In water either)
Always lather with soap far at least 20 seconds.   With flu season here its important to keep clean, and healthy

Wash With Soap
Wash with soap
Wash with soap
The germs can't get you anymore
Wash with soap
Wash with Soap
keep washing more and more
I don t care, about those evil germs
Let the faucet rain and
The soap doesn't bother me anyway

Mrs. Lindsey and Mrs. Mcknight's GEMs after school group looks like they are learning interesting things as well.  I believe that looks like owl pellets!
